Hey, so I moved states to escape constant anti-Black harassment and be closer to extended family and was planning on staying with said family til they found out I was on hormones and decided that was somehow threatening to my younger primxs living in the home 😑 So I’ve spent all the money I saved up on hostels and bus fare to get to job interviews and now my account is wayyy overdrawn and will be closed if I don’t get back to $0.00+ by October.
If my account is closed then I’ll also lose my phone (the bill for which is taken from the overdrawn account) because I can’t open a new bank account without a valid ID or an initial deposit which I currently don’t have. Without a phone number it’s pretty impossible to get a job and I won’t even be able to look for any w/o internet access (can’t use the library computers w/o a library card which requires, you guessed it, a valid ID).
There’s just been a storm of circumstances that have left me broke and homeless in a state where I no longer have the support that I did when I arrived. I’m continuing to job hunt aggressively (been to 37 interviews in the last month) and work random cash gigs that buy groceries but I’m just barely keeping my ahead above water and due to SESTA/FOSTA, recent stings, and trauma from previous assaults can’t reliably/consistently count on sex work to make ends meet.
